Subject-Based Banding (SBB) is an educational initiative implemented in Singapore schools to increase subject selection flexibility and cater to students’ diverse learning needs and abilities. The SBB framework provides students with three subject bands: Express, Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical). Another SBB reform is the implementation of subject-based promotion. Previously, students’ advancement to the next academic level was based on their overall performance across all subjects.
